Spain's 2026-2030 State Housing Plan is set out in Royal Decree 326/2026 of 22 April, published in the official gazette the following day. It is the framework through which the State and the regions will fund housing aid over the coming years.

Rental aid for young people

The plan includes emancipation aid of up to €300 a month for a whole home and up to €200 for a room, capped at 60% of the rent. That is the maximum: what you receive depends on your situation and your local call for applications.

Buying in small towns

People under 35 who buy or build their first main home in a municipality of up to 10,000 inhabitants may access aid of up to €15,000. The plan also covers aid for rent-to-buy in protected housing.

What is often overlooked

  • The national rule sets the framework, but the regions open and decide the calls.
  • Deadlines, income limits and paperwork vary from region to region.
  • Publication in the gazette does not mean your region's call is already open.
  • Aid is usually subject to available budget and to order of application or a points scale.

What to do now

Check your region's housing website to see whether a call is open. Gather your contract, proof of income and registration early. If you are buying, do not include the aid in your budget until it has been granted.
