Data and events refer to: September 2026.

Twelve-month Euribor averaged 2.954% in August 2026 and 3.247% in September. If you have a variable mortgage, that index sets your payment at each review.

An example with numbers

Rankia estimates that a €167,000 mortgage over 25 years with a 0.75% spread would cost about €881 a month at September 2026 Euribor. At the September 2025 rate it was about €785. That is roughly €96 more a month in this specific case.

When it affects you

Your payment does not change every month. It changes on your contract's review date, usually every six or twelve months, using the Euribor reference stated in your deed.

What to check

  • The date of your next review.
  • Your spread and the conditions you must keep to retain any discount.
  • How much the payment would rise if the index went up another point.
  • Whether repaying part of the capital is better than keeping savings available.

Nobody can guarantee where Euribor will go. It is more prudent to check that the payment stays affordable in a worse scenario.
